I'm Emily, I'm 18, and I come from a reasonably large town in Staffordshire. I'm an A-Level student, and an aspiring linguist, when it suits me. When it doesn't suit me, I'm a wannabe musician who tries to be well-read and maybe a bit cultured. Hopefully off to the University of Nottingham to study French and Spanish this September, if I knuckle down and get the grades. Surgically attached to my iPod, first class procrastinator. Frank Turner is a bearded god, and without Belle and Sebastian, I'd have been a very miserable person.

Shit just got real.

Really broke my heart to decline Bath and Lancaster (and Manchester, to an extent), but it had to be done.

A question.

When it comes down to choosing a firm uni, should I go for one that I know I can get the grades for, although don’t think much of the surrounding area, and the department isn’t so ‘prestigious’, although the staff were very friendly and honest, or do I go for the more prestigious uni, where I had no opportunity to speak to the staff, where I like the city, but the accommodation is shite and it’s going to be a push to get the entry grades?

Reduced offer from Aberystwyth!

Got a letter yesterday saying this:

Dear Emily,

We were very pleased to meet you at the recent Visiting Day and to get to know you better. We hope that you, too, had sufficient opportunity to get to know the Department and discover what Aberystwyth has to offer. On the basis of our conversation with you we feel sure that you have a valuable contribution to make to this Department and we would like to reduce our offer to you to 260 points with B in French or German A-Level.

Yours sincerely etc etc

So, with my UCAS points from AS in consideration, I need DDD to get in. Pretty much guaranteed a place at uni then!

Bath are doing my head in.

I sent my application at the end of October. Fair enough, it took my college a week to actually send it, but Bath received my application on the 8th of November. Nearly three months later, I’m still waiting. Everyone else has replied - what’s taking them so long?

I think I speak on behalf of the nation that filling out the Student Finance form is a nightmare.

stupid fucking thing wanting my passport number and my bank details and my national insurance and god knows what else and I don’t know what they are which means I have to GET UP out of my seat to find them and then my parents are like ‘will have to calculate our income so can you wait a bit?’

so then i have to save it all and then i lose my password when i try to log in again so i have to reset my password and FYFYGUIBIOJPOUPKYSTEXFC this is annoying me.
